Designing admin tools that survive daily use

Admin interfaces fail when they are treated as leftover screens. The useful version starts with the operator's repeated decision: what changed, what needs attention, and what action is available now.

A good admin tool keeps destructive actions explicit, shows enough history to explain state, and avoids hiding the common path behind configuration that nobody remembers.

The result is rarely dramatic. It is simply easier to open the tool, understand the system, and leave it in a better state.
